ABOUT THE COMPANY
The Caribbean Folk Performers is an Afro-Caribbean based performing company, committed to the preserving and promoting the indigenous and contemporary Caribbean culture through dance, music and drama. Since the company's inception in 1988 as a company of four dancers and two drummers, Caribbean Folk Performers grew not only in members but towards its destined future as a performing arts company. In addition to promoting Caribbean culture, our performances are built on creativity and versatility, criteria that are built to fulfil the needs of the clientele.
Caribbean Folk Performers is led by some of the Caribbean's leading and innovative dancers, musicians and actors. We believe that our current and future success depends on the amount of intricate and detailed research that we do for each performance. Research to us is necessary for the preservation and presentation of our culture in the Canadian and Caribbean-Canadian community at large. For too long has the Caribbean culture been misinterpreted. Caribbean Folk Performers tries to change that by educating as well as entertaining.
The company has toured and performed extensively in North America. Some of these cities and performances have been in the Caribana Festival, Ontario Place, Canadian National Exhibition, Metro Toronto International Caravan, "MOSAIC" in Saskatchewan, Madison Square Gardens, Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, The Virgin Islands among many other places that are too many to mention.
